The Journey to Hogwarts

A slightly short girl with flaming red hair and magnificent blue eyes waved out the window of the train as her parents smiled and waved back at her. Their figures became smaller and smaller until the train had left them behind. The girl scouped up the greay cat sitting at her feet and went to look for a compartment. What would Hogwarts be like? Would it really live up to the high standards everyone had for the majestic castle? what if she wasn't placed in Gryffindor like her parents? While her head was full of questions and worries, there was a seperate part of her mind was filled with anticipation and excitement thinking that the train could arrive fast enough.
In her mind, she flashed back to a week ago when she sat with her father admiring her new school books and supplies, holding the wand that had so recently chosen her pretending to cast spells that she hadn't yet learned as her father told her of all the adventures and mischief that he and his brother had gotten into at Hogwarts in their day.
"So remember, Valora, all you have to do is tickle the pair in just the right spot and the painting will open up. It leads straight to the kitchens! The house elves will give you just about any food you ask for," he paused. "Oh, and Val, don't tell your mother I'm telling you any of this," he added with a wink.
After all the talk, all the planning, the promising to write letters, the constant reminders from her father that bending the rules is different from breaking them, she had finally boarded Platform Nine and Three Quarters! Still unable to believe that this day had finally come, Valora poked her head into a compartment that was occupied by two girls that looked like twins.
"Do you two mind if I sit here? Everywhere else is full," she asked, hoping for a good response.
"Go ahead. I'm Laila Stone and this is my sister Amethyst. Who are you?" asked one of the girls, the one holding the book.
"I'm Valora Weasley, but you can call me Val for short," Val replied. "And this is Saige." She set the fluffy grey cat down next to her on the seat.
"Nice to meet you,"said Amethyst. Amethyst then pulled out her wand and waved it around a bit. She seemed to be hoping for some sort of sign of her magical abilities to show itself. She waved it a second time. This time, it resulted in several blue sparks potruding from the tip of her wand. "Did you see that? Laila, I just did magic!" Amethyst was completely thrilled, and at this point Laila and Val took out their wands as well, and with no knowledge of any particular spells, they too tried their best to produce magic.
Their success with producing sparks of different colors became more and more constant. At one point, Laila had managed to produce a puff of purple smoke that sent them out of their compartment gagging for several minutes until it had cleared up. As Val repeatedly waved her hazel and dragon heart-string wand, as the girls got into conversations about Hogwarts, classes, and spells they wanted to learn, Val couldn't help but smile a little bit. Her mind was at peace knowing that she had found friends. A little while later, after the three girls had been enjoying themselves chatting away, and after their compartment was littered with candy wrappers and chocolate frog cards, the girls hurriedly changed into their robes. It was not long after that when the train had come to a halt, the sun just sinking below the horizon. they had arrived at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
