Idiot girl

“HURRY UP! We are going to miss the train!” Xavier shouted as his sister as he carted his luggage along. He was a third year signed up to take three seventh year courses. He was a genius when it came to potions, singing and defense against the dark arts.

He had snow white hair pulled back into a tight shoulder length pony tail. He wore a black long sleeve shirt with the sleeves rolled up, and black pants that were one inseam too long, so they had a natural fray on the bottom. He was a person who cared as much about his personality as his appearance.

“You idiot girl! Mom and dad said that I am in charge of making sure we are on time. If we are late for the train I will have to transport us and neither of us will like it.” He said with a hateful tone to his sister who was lagging easily ten steps behind. Alexandra, his sister, also had snowy hair, but hers was cut short and very poorly, probably by a spell gone wrong from her parents.

“Stupid first year, HURRY UP!” he said as they both passed through the pillar to platform 9¾. As Xavier looked down the platform he could see that the train was already gone, and parents were starting to disperse and go home.

“blast it,” Xavier cursed under his breath. “im sorry I was being so hard on you Lexi. I just wanted to get a good seat on the train, but now we will probably have to stand. No matter. Put your luggage next to mine.” He ordered.

Once she did he drew out his wand and said a short spell, then the luggage was gone, waiting for them outside the gates of Hogwarts. He then ordered her to take his arm. She did so, but reluctantly for she knew that she would not enjoy her first magical experience. Once her fingertips touched his biceps they disappeared.

After about a second of traveling in a magical “vortex” of sorts they appeared in the first year car of the train. “wow im proud of you most people…” he was cut short by his sister’s vomit dumping all over his shoes. He scowled at her and then hit her with a silent charm, knocking the wind out of her and making her stagger a few steps back.

He then transported away into a different car, one that was desgined for magical dueling and practice. As he expected there were some first years “dueling” with simple charms that their parents told them. Xavier was eager to… teach, them some new spells.

The Journey to Hogwarts

A slightly short girl with flaming red hair and magnificent blue eyes waved out the window of the train as her parents smiled and waved back at her. Their figures became smaller and smaller until the train had left them behind. The girl scouped up the greay cat sitting at her feet and went to look for a compartment. What would Hogwarts be like? Would it really live up to the high standards everyone had for the majestic castle? what if she wasn't placed in Gryffindor like her parents? While her head was full of questions and worries, there was a seperate part of her mind was filled with anticipation and excitement thinking that the train could arrive fast enough.
In her mind, she flashed back to a week ago when she sat with her father admiring her new school books and supplies, holding the wand that had so recently chosen her pretending to cast spells that she hadn't yet learned as her father told her of all the adventures and mischief that he and his brother had gotten into at Hogwarts in their day.
"So remember, Valora, all you have to do is tickle the pair in just the right spot and the painting will open up. It leads straight to the kitchens! The house elves will give you just about any food you ask for," he paused. "Oh, and Val, don't tell your mother I'm telling you any of this," he added with a wink.
After all the talk, all the planning, the promising to write letters, the constant reminders from her father that bending the rules is different from breaking them, she had finally boarded Platform Nine and Three Quarters! Still unable to believe that this day had finally come, Valora poked her head into a compartment that was occupied by two girls that looked like twins.
"Do you two mind if I sit here? Everywhere else is full," she asked, hoping for a good response.
"Go ahead. I'm Laila Stone and this is my sister Amethyst. Who are you?" asked one of the girls, the one holding the book.
"I'm Valora Weasley, but you can call me Val for short," Val replied. "And this is Saige." She set the fluffy grey cat down next to her on the seat.
"Nice to meet you,"said Amethyst. Amethyst then pulled out her wand and waved it around a bit. She seemed to be hoping for some sort of sign of her magical abilities to show itself. She waved it a second time. This time, it resulted in several blue sparks potruding from the tip of her wand. "Did you see that? Laila, I just did magic!" Amethyst was completely thrilled, and at this point Laila and Val took out their wands as well, and with no knowledge of any particular spells, they too tried their best to produce magic.
Their success with producing sparks of different colors became more and more constant. At one point, Laila had managed to produce a puff of purple smoke that sent them out of their compartment gagging for several minutes until it had cleared up. As Val repeatedly waved her hazel and dragon heart-string wand, as the girls got into conversations about Hogwarts, classes, and spells they wanted to learn, Val couldn't help but smile a little bit. Her mind was at peace knowing that she had found friends. A little while later, after the three girls had been enjoying themselves chatting away, and after their compartment was littered with candy wrappers and chocolate frog cards, the girls hurriedly changed into their robes. It was not long after that when the train had come to a halt, the sun just sinking below the horizon. they had arrived at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

There was absolute chaos in the Stone household.
“Mom? Where’s my robes?” said Amethyst, trying to brush her long, curly brown hair as quick as she can due to them already being late.
“For the third time now, they’re in your luggage.” said a woman in her mid-40’s who was attempting to shove two trunks and two owl cages into the back of her small Ford Fiesta.
“Mom? What if they don’t like us?” said a girl about the same height as the other who was standing with a book in her hand.
“Laila, I’m sure you two will get along with everyone there. Now you and your sister please get in the car, your father will be worried since we’re running late.”

Laila looked around the crowded train station and clutched her book tighter staying as close to her sister as she could. For a moment she wished she was home, in America with her friends and going to a normal school like Amethyst and her’s older sister.
“Lay? Do you think we’ll be okay?”
                “I don’t know Ammi…I just don’t know…”
The twins silently sent glances to each other all through the goodbye’s to their parents and boarded the train, nothing changed their moods from scared.
Laila settled down into the compartment the two had chosen, and opened her book while Amethyst settled down to play with Avalanche, her snow owl.
“Lay? Do you think that this school will be as good as the letters hyped it up to be?”
Laila didn’t look up from her book, determined to remain positive. “I’m sure it will. It has a very good name and it’s where dad went….and look what kind of job he got.”
Amethyst nodded and turned to look out the window as the train made its way along the countryside.

Sittin' on the Train

It was interesting to watch the countryside pass by through the window, but after several hours, it was becoming quite boring. April was indeed becoming bored. How much longer to Hogwarts, she wondered. There was footsteps in the hallway, but she didn't pay much attention. There had been footsteps since she had gotten on the train. It never concerned her. That is, until she heard the sliding of the glass compartment and a voice.
"I'm guessing you're the only one in here?"
April glanced up and saw a tall red headed girl. The girl looked around, seeing only April and a tiny owl flitting around.
"Excellent." Dropping her bags and a cat carrier on the bench opposite of April, the ginger sat down next to April and put out her hand. "Cassandra Lightwood, but you can call me Cassie."
April didn't smile, not quite yet. "You a pureblood?"
"Yeah." She answered, seeming unconcerned with the question.
April nodded, a smile finally appearing. "Me too. I'm April Hallows."
They both looked over as the glass divider opened again.
Suddenly a flamboyant looking guy entered the carriage. With an idiotic grin, he opened his mouth and said, "Is this seat taken?", gesturing towards the seat next to April.
He sat down without receiving any confirmation from either of them.
"So," he said flamboyantly. "Which house is everyone looking forward to getting into?"
April and Cassie simply sat there and stared at him in a state somewhat like shock.
"Uhh..." said Cassie with an unsure frown. "Do I know you..? Do we know you..?" She glanced over at April with a questioning look. April shook her head and mouthed, "NO."
"Well, I'm looking forward to any house that I can get into because my parents say I'm going to fail anyways..." He rambled on without paying any attention to the girls. April whispered to Cassie, "Should we... move or something?"
"HEY! What's your name?" The boy stopped rambling and pointed at April with a sudden intensity.
April froze and muttered, "Um, April?" His finger moved to point at Cassie. "And you?"
Cassie eyed the kid, as if she wasn't sure whether or not he would do something crazy, like throw himself out the window. "Cassie."
"Oh. Cool. I'm Lucifer." The boy relaxed against the back of his seat, only to leap up again and present a fluffy, disgruntled tuxedo cat. "This is my kitty-cat, Vicious!"
Obviously this kid was a threat to society, but April and Cassie weren't that different. In truth, they were very much alike in many ways. April looked at Cassie and Lucifer and smiled. Perhaps this trip won't be so boring anymore.
