There was absolute chaos in the Stone household.
“Mom? Where’s my robes?” said Amethyst, trying to brush her long, curly brown hair as quick as she can due to them already being late.
“For the third time now, they’re in your luggage.” said a woman in her mid-40’s who was attempting to shove two trunks and two owl cages into the back of her small Ford Fiesta.
“Mom? What if they don’t like us?” said a girl about the same height as the other who was standing with a book in her hand.
“Laila, I’m sure you two will get along with everyone there. Now you and your sister please get in the car, your father will be worried since we’re running late.”

Laila looked around the crowded train station and clutched her book tighter staying as close to her sister as she could. For a moment she wished she was home, in America with her friends and going to a normal school like Amethyst and her’s older sister.
“Lay? Do you think we’ll be okay?”
                “I don’t know Ammi…I just don’t know…”
The twins silently sent glances to each other all through the goodbye’s to their parents and boarded the train, nothing changed their moods from scared.
Laila settled down into the compartment the two had chosen, and opened her book while Amethyst settled down to play with Avalanche, her snow owl.
“Lay? Do you think that this school will be as good as the letters hyped it up to be?”
Laila didn’t look up from her book, determined to remain positive. “I’m sure it will. It has a very good name and it’s where dad went….and look what kind of job he got.”
Amethyst nodded and turned to look out the window as the train made its way along the countryside.
